God, we thank You for always watching over us with eyes like a flame of fire. In this time, help us to know the God of love and to deeply know Jesus, whom You have sent.

4. 본문 이해 (Understanding the Scripture)
예수님은 앞으로 그분을 믿게 될 모든 사람을 위해서도 기도하셨어요. 예수님은 그들이 사랑으로 하나 되기를 바라셨어요. 하나 됨의 가장 좋은 본보기는 아버지가 아들 안에, 아들이 아버지 안에 있는 ‘삼위 하나님의 하나 됨’이에요. 믿음의 사람들이 하나가 되면, 세상이 하나님의 사랑을 알게 돼요.
Jesus also prayed for all who would come to believe in Him. He desired for them to be united in love. The greatest example of unity is the oneness of the Trinity, where the Father is in the Son and the Son is in the Father. When believers are united, the world comes to know God’s love.
■ 인도자를 위한 본문 이해 (Understanding Scripture for the Leader)
예수님의 대제사장적 기도는 예수님 자신을 위한 기도에서 제자들을 위한 기도로, 더 나아가 제자들을 통해 믿게 될 모든 사람을 위한 기도로 확장되어요. 본문에서 언급된 ‘그들’(21절)은 예수님의 제자들뿐 아니라 이후 제자들을 통해 복음을 듣고 예수님을 믿게 될 모든 사람을 가리켜요. 다른 말로 ‘교회’라고 표현할 수 있지요. 예수님은 그분을 믿는 사람들의 공동체가 하나님의 사랑 안에서 하나가 되기를 원하셨어요. 예수님은 제자들에게 하나님의 사랑을 보여 주셨고, 그 사랑을 깨닫고 믿게 된 공동체가 하나님의 사랑으로 하나가 되어야 한다고 하셨어요. 예수님을 통해 하나님의 사랑을 받고 있음을 믿는 성도들은 자연스럽게 사랑으로 연합하는 공동체를 이루게 돼요. 그리고 그들이 서로 사랑하는 모습을 보며 세상이 하나님의 사랑을 알게 되지요. 그리스도인에게는 사랑으로 하나 되어 세상에 하나님의 사랑을 보여 주어야 하는 사명이 있어요.
Jesus’ High Priestly Prayer expands from praying for Himself to praying for His disciples and, further, for all who would come to faith through them. The “they” (v. 21) mentioned in the passage refers not only to Jesus’ disciples but also to all who would hear the gospel and come to believe in Him in the future—essentially, the “church.” Jesus desired for the community of believers in Him to be united in God’s love.
Jesus revealed God’s love to His disciples, and He declared that the community that comes to know and believe in that love should also be united in it. Those who believe they are loved by God through Jesus naturally form a community united in love. As the world witnesses them loving one another, it comes to recognize God’s love.
Christians have a mission: to be united in love and to reveal God’s love to the world.

Jesus’ prayer repeatedly emphasizes oneness: the oneness of the Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), the oneness of Jesus and His disciples, and the oneness of all believers. These are deeply connected.
Jesus, who is united with God in love, came to earth to reveal the reality of that perfect love. To believe in and receive Jesus is to become one with Him, and being one with Jesus means being united with the Triune God. Jesus desired that future believers would also be united in God’s love.
When the disciples, who are connected to God’s love, love one another and become one, the world will come to know God’s love through them. This is also the mission of the church.

Think of someone in your life who is difficult to love and reflect on why you find it hard to love them. Consider how God would want you to treat that person, and spend some time praying for the strength to love them with God’s love.
Let children know that living a life that gains and enjoys eternal life begins with knowing who God is. Encourage them to talk freely about what they know about God and listen carefully. Discuss how they can live their lives to know more about God and explain that the more they know God, the more they can enjoy the blessings of eternal life here on earth.

예수님이 사랑으로 하나 되게 해 달라고 기도하신 것은 사랑으로 하나 되는 것이 쉽지 않기 때문이에요. 하나님의 사랑을 받았음에도 다른 사람을 사랑하는 일은 늘 어렵고 힘들어요. 누군가를 사랑하는 힘은 하나님에게서 나온다는 사실을 기억하길 바라요. 사랑하기 힘든 상대방의 이름을 구체적으로 말하면서 그 사람을 사랑할 힘을 달라고 하나님께 기도해 보세요. 그를 사랑하지 못하는 이유도 하나님께 말씀드려 보세요. 하나님의 사랑을 의지하면 사랑할 힘을 주세요.
Jesus prayed for us to be united in love because being united in love is not easy. Even though we receive God’s love, loving others can still be difficult. It is important to remember that the strength to love comes from God.
Think of someone you find difficult to love and say their name in prayer. Ask God to give you the strength to love them, and also share with Him the reasons why you find it hard to love that person. When you rely on God’s love, He will give you the strength to love others.
6. 감사하기 (Gratitude)
예수님을 통해 하나님의 사랑을 알고, 그 사랑을 나누게 하시는 은혜에 감사드리세요.
Give thanks for God’s grace that allows you to know His love through Jesus and to share that love with others.
7. 기도 (Prayer)
하나님, 저희의 부족한 모습에도 불구하고 늘 아낌없이 사랑을 부어 주시니 감사합니다. 갚을 수 없는 사랑을 받은 자답게 저희도 다른 사람을 용납하고 사랑하기에 힘쓰며, 진실한 말과 행실로 예수님을 전하게 해 주세요.
God, we thank You for always pouring out Your love on us, despite our shortcomings. As those who have received Your immeasurable love, help us to forgive others, love them wholeheartedly, and share Jesus through sincere words and actions.

하나가 되어 움직이기
<하손목 묶어 연결하기>
* 준비물: 손수건이나 천 조각, 율동할 수 있는 찬양, A4용지, 연필, 접시, 간식
1. 두 사람씩 짝을 지어 한 사람은 오른손, 한 사람은 왼손을 포개어 수건으로 묶습니다.
2. 율동할 수 있는 찬양을 골라 함께 움직이며 율동을 맞춥니다(동작이 어려우면 함께 손뼉만 쳐도 좋습니다).
3. 종이 위에 연필로 같은 그림을 그려 보세요(하트, 꽃, 네모 등 쉬운 것부터 시작해 복잡한 그림을 그려 봅니다).
4. 마지막으로 준비한 간식을 앞에 두고 함께 묶인 손으로 먹어 봅니다.
다른 사람과 하나 되기 위해 노력해야 할 부분은 무엇인지 생각해 보는 시간이 되기를 바라요.
Moving as One
<Linking Wrists Together>
Preparation: Handkerchiefs or fabric strips, a rhythmic worship song, A4 paper, pencils, plates, snacks
1. Pair up, and tie one person’s right hand and the other person’s left hand together with a cloth.
2. Choose a worship song with movements and try to follow along together (if the movements are too difficult, simply clapping together works too).
3. Using a pencil, try drawing the same picture on a piece of paper. Start with simple shapes like a heart, flower, or square, and then try drawing something more complex.
4. Finally, place the prepared snack in front of you and try eating it using only your tied hands.
May this activity help you reflect on what it takes to be united with others.
