4. 본문 이해 (Understanding the Scripture)
고린도 교회에서 어떤 이는 바울을, 어떤 이는 아볼로를 따르며 서로 분열했어요. 바울과 아볼로는 하나님이 보내신 사역자들이에요. 바울이 복음의 씨를 심었다면, 아볼로는 물을 주었어요. 모두가 주목할 유일한 대상은 생명을 자라게 하시는 하나님이에요. 그러므로 사람을 앞세우거나 높이면 안 돼요.
In the Corinthian church, some followed Paul and others followed Apollos, causing division. Paul and Apollos are ministers sent by God. If Paul planted the seed of the gospel, Apollos watered it. The only one everyone should focus on is God, who makes life grow. Therefore, we should not put people first or exalt them.

Corinth was destroyed by Rome in 146 BC and rebuilt as a Roman colony in 44 BC, becoming a large city. Corinth developed quickly, playing an important role as a port and commercial city, with a mixture of various ethnicities, cultures, and religions. The Corinthian church was established by Paul during his second missionary journey (Acts 18:1-4). Over time after Paul left, the Corinthian church experienced severe division (3:3-5). Factions arose as they followed human leaders. The saints divided into Paul’s faction, Apollos’s faction, Cephas’s faction, and Christ’s faction, boasting and competing with one another (1:1-12). In addition, prevalent issues of sexual immorality (5:1) and idolatry (10:7) in the Corinthian church posed a great threat to the believers’ faith. Paul was the one who started the Corinthian church, and Apollos was the one who came later to teach the Word. To stop the church’s division, Paul emphasizes that spiritual growth is God’s sovereign grace. Both the one who plants seeds (the one who preaches the gospel) and the one who waters (the one who helps faith) are merely tools. The one who makes the seed grow and bear fruit is God alone. Paul and Apollos are ministers who preached the gospel and led them to believe (3:5). Therefore, they should be treated as God’s co-workers (ministers) appointed in God’s field, the Corinthian church, and people should not be exalted. I hope you engrave in your heart the truth that spiritual growth is not a human achievement but God’s grace.”

▒ 인도자를 위한 해설 (Commentary for the Leader)
교회 안에서 서로 비교하거나 사람을 높이는 일을 멈추어야 합니다. 바울과 아볼로는 각자의 은사를 따라 고린도 성도들을 섬긴 사역자입니다. 하나님은 각 사람에게 다른 역할을 맡기시며, 그 모든 일의 중심은 하나님입니다. 성도를 택하시고, 성도에게 믿음을 주시며, 성도를 성장하게 하시는 분은 오직 하나님입니다. 우리가 섬기는 교회도 마찬가지입니다. 어떤 사람은 말씀을 전하고, 어떤 사람은 기도로 돕지만, 우리는 모두 하나님의 도구일 뿐입니다. 결국 한 영혼을 만나 주시고, 믿음을 주시고, 성장하게 하시는 분은 하나님입니다. 한 사람의 신앙 성장은 사람의 열심이나 능력으로 완성되는 것이 아니라, 보이지 않게 역사하시는 하나님의 은혜와 능력으로 이루어집니다. 그러므로 특정한 사람에게 공로를 돌리거나 그를 높이면 안 됩니다. 우리가 하는 일이 비록 작을지라도 하나님 손에 맡겨질 때 자라고 열매 맺는다는 것을 기억하길 바랍니다. 또한 공동체 안에서 비교가 아닌 존중, 경쟁이 아닌 협력으로 함께하는 태도를 가지길 바랍니다.
We must stop comparing ourselves or exalting people within the church. Paul and Apollos are ministers who served the Corinthian saints according to their respective gifts. God entrusts different roles to each person, and the center of all that work is God. The One who chooses the saints, gives them faith, and makes them grow is God alone. The same goes for the church we serve. Some preach the Word, and some help with prayer, but we are all merely God’s tools. Ultimately, the One who meets a soul, gives faith, and brings growth is God. A person’s spiritual growth is not completed by human zeal or ability, but by God’s grace and power working invisibly. Therefore, we should not give credit to a specific person or exalt them. I hope you remember that even if what we do is small, it grows and bears fruit when entrusted to God’s hands. Also, I hope you have an attitude of being together in the community with respect rather than comparison, and cooperation rather than competition.

Next, share how they will be with that community in the future, and what they can actively do to help the community grow healthily (e.g., ‘I will clean the living room for family worship’, ‘I will not compare myself with friends or brag about my things’, ‘I will be kind to a friend who is bullied’, ‘I will focus on God during Sunday worship’, etc.).
6. 감사하기 (Gratitude)
하나님께 감사드리고 싶은 일을 세 가지 정도 기록하게 한 후에 함께 나눕니다. 일상에서 경험한 크고 작은 감사나 예배 중에 생각난 감사를 나누어도 되고, 평범한 일상을 누리게 하시는 은혜에 대한 감사를 나누어도 됩니다. 감사를 나눔으로 하나님 은혜를 기억하고 하나님 중심의 삶을 훈련하게 됩니다.
Write down about three things you want to thank God for and share them together. You can share big and small thanks experienced in daily life, thanks that came to mind during worship, or thanks for the grace of enjoying an ordinary daily life. By sharing gratitude, we remember God’s grace and practice living a God-centered life.
7. 기도 (Prayer)
하나님! 사람의 힘이 아닌 오직 하나님 은혜로 믿음의 성장이 이루어짐을 고백합니다. 사람을 앞세우지 않고, 하나님께만 초점을 맞추는 저희가 되게 해 주세요. 그래서 저희로 인해 공동체가 더욱 건강하게 성장하게 해 주세요.
God! We confess that the growth of faith is achieved not by human strength but only by God’s grace. Please let us be the ones who do not put people first, but focus only on God. So please let our community grow healthier because of us.

8. 가족 미션 (Family Mission)
<믿음의 밭 가꾸기>
준비물: 쓰레기봉투, 정리 상자, 포스트잇, 펜, 찬양 한 곡
1. 정리할 곳 정하기: 가족이 자주 모이는 공간(책상, 거실, 식탁 등)을 하나 정합니다. 그곳이 오늘 우리가 함께 가꿀 ‘마음의 밭’입니다.
2. 마음의 잡초 뽑기: 정리를 시작하기 전에 각자 마음속에 있는 잡초를 한 가지씩 포스트잇에 적습니다(예: 짜증, 불평, 미루는 마음 등). 공간을 깨끗이 정리하면서 기록한 마음속 잡초도 함께 버립니다.

<Cultivating the field of the heart>
* Materials: Trash bags, organizing boxes, Post-it notes, pens, one praise song
1. Decide on a place to organize: Choose one space where the family often gathers (desk, living room, dining table, etc.). That is the ‘field of the heart’ we will cultivate together today.
2. Pulling out weeds of the heart: Before starting to organize, each person writes down one weed in their heart on a Post-it note (e.g., annoyance, complaints, procrastination, etc.). As you clean the space, throw away the written weeds of the heart as well.
3. Planting seeds of gratitude: Write topics of gratitude or each other’s strengths on Post-it notes and stick them in appropriate places (e.g., ‘Thank you for the warm meal mom prepared’, ‘Thank you dad for playing with me’, etc.).
4. Watering with praise: The family sings a praise song together and says, “Now the field of our heart is clean.”, “God will make it grow.”
Make it a time for the family to renew their hearts and look forward to what God will make grow through the symbolic actions of ‘pulling out weeds of the heart, planting seeds of gratitude, and watering with praise’.
