The Israelites obeyed God’s command by marching around the walls of Jericho once a day for six days, and on the seventh day, they marched around it seven times. When the priests blew the trumpets and the people shouted loudly, the walls collapsed. The fall of Jericho was not the result of human military strength but the power of God. God gave victory to His people because they obeyed His instructions completely.

Jericho was the first city the Israelites conquered after entering the land of Canaan. Archaeological discoveries show that it had both an inner and outer wall, with the outer wall alone about two meters thick—making it an almost impenetrable fortress. It is estimated that around 1,500 people lived there at the time. God gave Joshua specific instructions on how to take the city. Rather than using military force, God commanded them to act in His way: the entire nation was to march around the city once a day for six days, and on the seventh day, they were to march around it seven times. When the priests blew their trumpets and the people shouted, the walls collapsed.
The Israelites’ obedience brought about a miraculous victory—they captured Jericho without a fight. This demonstrated that it was not Israel’s strength but God’s power that secured the victory. God commanded that everything in the city be destroyed as part of the ḥerem, a holy devotion of all things to the Lord. Thus, the battle of Jericho was not an ordinary war but a sacred offering to God. The fall of Jericho also served as a sign that God would continue to fight for His people and bring victory throughout their conquest of Canaan.

God led Israel to victory in their first battle in Canaan not through military might, but through an extraordinary method. The fall of Jericho was a demonstration of God’s great power. The Israelites simply obeyed. God delights in obedience. Throughout Scripture, we find many examples of people who experienced miracles through faith and obedience:
– When the Israelites believed and obeyed, the Red Sea and the Jordan River parted.
– Ten lepers were healed while obeying Jesus’ command to go show themselves to the priests.
We too must obey God’s Word, the circumstances He places us in, and the leaders He establishes over us. When we obey fully—even when it seems illogical or beyond reason—we will experience God’s amazing works. Hidden within obedience is God’s miraculous blessing.

A4 색상지를 고깔 모양으로 만들어 빨대가 들어갈 구멍을 만든 후, 셀로판테이프로 나팔 모양을 고정합니다.
2. 빨간 색종이를 반으로 접어 오립니다.
3. 오려 낸 색종이를 세로로 길게 삼등분해서 접은 후, 종이가 벌어지지 않도록 양면테이프로 붙입니다.
4. 빨대 끝부분을 1~2cm 정도 색종이 안으로 넣은 후 셀로판테이프로 붙입니다.
5. 반대편 색종이 끝은 빨대 쪽으로 돌돌 말아 줍니다.

<Make a Trumpet of Obedience>
Preparations: A4 colored paper (green or any preferred color), red origami paper, scissors, cellophane tape, double-sided tape, a wide drinking straw, and stickers or other decorative materials.
1. Roll the A4 paper into a cone shape and make a small hole at the tip where the straw will go. Secure the cone with cellophane tape.
2. Fold the red origami paper in half and cut along the fold.
3. Take one of the halves and fold it lengthwise into three equal parts. Use double-sided tape to seal the edges so the paper doesn’t unfold.
4. Insert about 1–2 cm of the straw into the folded paper and tape it securely.
5. Roll the opposite end of the red paper loosely toward the straw to create a spiral.
6. Insert the straw into the hole in the cone and tape it from the inside to secure it.
7. Decorate the finished trumpet with stickers or drawings.
8. When you blow through the straw, the rolled red paper will extend outward like a trumpet sound!
