4. 본문 이해 (Understanding the Scripture)
죽은 나사로의 집에 예수님이 찾아오셨어요. 슬퍼하는 마르다에게 예수님은 나사로가 다시 살아날 것이라고 말씀하셨어요. 하나님 아들이신 예수님은 생명을 주관하시는 분이에요. 그래서 “나는 부활이요 생명이다.”라고 선언하셨어요. 예수님을 믿는 사람은 영원히 죽지 않는 생명을 얻어요.
Jesus visited the home of Lazarus, who had passed away. To Martha, who was grieving, He assured her that Lazarus would rise again. As the Son of God, Jesus, the giver of life, declared, ‘I am the resurrection and the life.’ Those who believe in Jesus will receive eternal life and will never die.
■ 인도자를 위한 본문 이해 (Understanding Scripture for the Leader)
예수님이 사랑하시던 나사로가 병들어 죽었어요. 예수님은 나사로가 병든 것을 알고 계셨지만, 그가 죽은 후에야 나사로의 집이 있는 베다니로 가셨어요. 나사로가 죽자 많은 사람이 마르다와 마리아를 위문하러 왔어요. 예수님이 오셨다는 소식을 들은 마르다는 마을 입구로 마중을 나갔어요. 마르다를 보신 예수님은 나사로가 다시 살아날 것이라고 말씀하셨어요. 하지만 마르다는 현실 세상에서 죽은 사람의 부활은 생각지도 못했기에 마지막 날에 나사로가 부활할 것이라고 대답했어요. 이 대답을 들은 예수님은 다시 한번 분명히 말씀하셨어요. “나는 부활이요 생명이다.”라고 말이에요. 부활을 경험하지 못한 마르다는 무슨 뜻인지 알 수 없었어요. 예수님의 제자들도 마찬가지였어요. 예수님은 생명을 주관하시는 분이세요. 무덤을 막고 있는 돌을 옮기라는 예수님의 말씀에 마르다는 죽은 지 나흘이나 지나 썩은 냄새가 난다면 만류했지만, 예수님은 “내 말을 믿으면 하나님 영광을 본다.”라고 하셨어요(11:40). 예수님이 “나사로야 나오라.”라고 명하시자 나사로가 베로 몸이 동인 채 걸어 나오는 놀라운 일이 일어났어요(11:39, 43~44). 진실로 예수님은 부활이요 생명이세요. 예수님은 십자가에서 죽으셨지만 부활하심으로 자신이 어떤 분인지 보여 주셨어요. 그리고 부활하신 예수님을 믿는 사람에게 영생을 허락하셨어요. 이렇듯 나사로를 다시 살려 주신 표적은 부활이요 생명이신 예수님을 확실히 드러내는 사건이에요.
Lazarus, whom Jesus loved, fell ill and died. Jesus knew about Lazarus’ illness but chose to go to Bethany, where his house was, only after Lazarus had died. Upon hearing of his death, many people came to comfort Martha and Mary. When Martha heard that Jesus had arrived, she went to meet Him at the entrance of the town. Upon seeing her, Jesus told Martha that Lazarus would rise again. However, Martha didn’t believe in the possibility of the dead being resurrected in this world, so she responded that Lazarus would rise on the last day. Jesus then made it clear: ‘I am the resurrection and the life.’ Since Martha had not experienced resurrection firsthand, she couldn’t fully grasp what Jesus meant, and neither could His disciples. Jesus is the giver of life. When Jesus asked Martha to remove the stone from the tomb, she hesitated, worried about the foul smell after four days of death, but Jesus reassured her, saying, ‘If you believe, you will see the glory of God’ (11:40). Then Jesus commanded, ‘Lazarus, come out,’ and an extraordinary event occurred: Lazarus, still wrapped in burial cloths, walked out (11:39, 43-44). Truly, Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Although Jesus died on the cross, He proved His identity by rising from the dead and offers eternal life to all who believe in Him. In this way, the miracle of raising Lazarus is a clear revelation of Jesus as the resurrection and the life.
“예수께서 이르시되 돌을 옮겨 놓으라 하시니 그 죽은 자의 누이 마르다가 이르되 주여 죽은 지가 나흘이 되었으매 벌써 냄새가 나나이다”(요 11:39).
39. “Take away the stone,” he said. “But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.” (John 11:39, NIV)
“예수께서 이르시되 내 말이 네가 믿으면 하나님의 영광을 보리라 하지 아니하였느냐 하시니”(요 11:40).
40. Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” (John 11:40, NIV)
“이 말씀을 하시고 큰 소리로 나사로야 나오라 부르시니 죽은 자가 수족을 베로 동인 채로 나오는데 그 얼굴은 수건에 싸였더라 예수께서 이르시되 풀어 놓아 다니게 하라 하시니라”(요 11:43~44).

예수님은 마르다에게 나사로가 다시 살아날 것이라고 말씀하셨어요. 하지만 마르다는 유대인들이 가졌던 전통적인 부활 신앙으로 형식적인 대답을 했어요. ‘마지막 날’에 나사로가 다시 살아날 것을 믿는다고 말이에요. 마르다는 전통적으로 내려오던 부활 신앙을 막연하게 고백했지만, 실제 그런 일이 나사로에게 일어나리라고는 믿지 못했어요. 이에 예수님은 “나는 부활이요 생명이다.”라고 선언하셨어요. 이는 예수님이 죽은 사람도 살리실 수 있다는 말씀으로, 생명의 주권자만이 하실 수 있는 말이에요. 생명이신 예수님은 부활의 첫 열매(고전 15:20~22)가 되셔서 영원한 생명과 구원의 길을 열어 주셨어요. 나사로가 다시 살아난 사건은 이러한 예수님의 부활과 생명을 미리 보여 주는 표적이었어요.
Jesus told Martha that Lazarus would rise again, but Martha responded based on the traditional Jewish belief in resurrection, saying she believed Lazarus would rise on the “last day.” While Martha confessed the traditional resurrection belief, she did not believe it would actually happen to Lazarus. In response, Jesus declared, “I am the resurrection and the life.” This statement meant that Jesus, as the sovereign Lord of life, had the power to raise the dead. As the source of life, Jesus became the firstfruits of the resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20-22), opening the way to eternal life and salvation. The raising of Lazarus was a preview of Jesus’ resurrection and the life He offers.
“그러나 이제 그리스도께서 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 살아나사 잠자는 자들의 첫 열매가 되셨도다 사망이 한 사람으로 말미암았으니 죽은 자의 부활도 한 사람으로 말미암는도다 아담 안에서 모든 사람이 죽은 것 같이 그리스도 안에서 모든 사람이 삶을 얻으리라”(고전 15:20~22).

Be honest about what makes you sad or afraid. It could be something like illness, losing money, or the death of a loved one. Share what you think Jesus, God’s Son, would do if you gave it to Him. Since death is often the greatest fear for many people, remind them that Jesus defeated death and rose again to be the living hope for everyone who believes in Him.

마르다와 마리아에게 가장 슬픈 일은 오빠 나사로의 죽음이었어요. 나사로가 죽자 가족들과 친구들은 모든 것이 끝났다고 절망하며 슬퍼했어요. 예수님은 그들이 슬퍼하는 모습을 보시고 비통히 여기셨어요(11:33). 예수님은 죄 가운데서, 죽음의 절망 가운데서 우리를 구원하시기 위해 이 땅에 오신 하나님 아들이에요. 예수님은 그분 앞에서 죽음은 아무 힘이 없다는 것을 보여 주시고, 절망과 어둠에 종노릇하지 말고 빛과 생명으로 나아오라고 초대하세요. 예수님을 나의 주님으로 고백하는 믿음의 사람들은 이 소망 가운데 살아가는 사람들이에요. 슬픔과 절망과 고난도 우리를 하나님 사랑에서 끊을 수 없어요. 예수님을 주님으로 고백하는 믿음의 사람은 어떠한 어려움 앞에서도 절망하거나 포기하지 않고 생명의 풍성함을 온전히 누릴 수 있어요.
The saddest thing that ever happened to Martha and Mary was the death of their brother, Lazarus. When Lazarus died, his family and friends mourned, believing that everything was over. Jesus saw their grief and was deeply moved (11:33). Jesus is the Son of God who came to save us from sin and the despair of death. He showed us that death has no power over Him and invites us to step out of despair and darkness into the light and life. As a believer who confesses Jesus as my Lord, I live with this hope. No sorrow, despair, or hardship can separate us from God’s love. No matter what life brings, I can fully experience the abundance of life without despairing or giving up.
“예수께서 그가 우는 것과 또 함께 온 유대인들이 우는 것을 보시고 심령에 비통히 여기시고 불쌍히 여기사”(요 11:33).

부활이요 생명이신 예수님이 열어 주신 영생의 길과 구원의 삶에 감사드리세요.
Give thanks to Jesus, who is the resurrection and the life and opened up the way to eternal life and salvation.

하나님, 예수님을 통해 생명을 얻게 하시니 감사합니다. 생명의 주인 되신 예수님을 변함없이 사랑하고 섬기며, 부활과 영생에 대한 소망으로 살아가게 해 주세요. 힘든 일을 만날 때마다 능력의 예수님을 힘 있게 의지하게 해 주세요.
God, thank you for giving us life through Jesus. Help us to love and serve Jesus, the giver of life, steadfastly, and to live with the hope of resurrection and eternal life. Whenever we face difficulties, help us to rely on Jesus, the source of our strength.

<자연 관찰 준비>
* 준비물: 생명 관찰 일지, 필기도구, 스티커, 카메라(혹은 카메라 기능이 있는 휴대전화), 따뜻한 음료 등
1. 따뜻한 음료를 준비해 가족이 함께 바깥나들이를 합니다.
2. 집 주변 가까운 공원에 가서 양지바른 곳의 식물이나 살아 있는 생물을 관찰합니다.
3. 햇볕이 따뜻하게 내리쬐는 곳을 살펴보고 싹이 올라온 식물을 찾아 사진을 찍습니다.
4. 움직이는 동물도 사진을 찍습니다(예: 고양이, 새, 산책하는 강아지 등).
5. 집으로 돌아와 사진으로 찍은 식물과 동물의 생김새, 이름, 특징 등을 관찰 일지에 기록합니다.
6. 생명이 있기에 싹이 트고 살아서 움직인다는 사실을 아이들에게 이야기해 줍니다.
7. 서로의 심장 박동 소리에 귀 기울여 보고, 생명을 주신 하나님께 감사드립니다.
생명은 사람뿐 아니라 식물과 동물에게서도 발견할 수 있어요. 가족이 함께 바깥나들이를 하며 만물에 생명을 주신 하나님께 감사드리는 시간을 가져 보세요. 그리고 생명이 함께 숨 쉬며 어우러지는 거대한 자연을 그려 보세요.

Preparations: Life observation journal, writing utensils, stickers, camera (or phone with camera), hot drinks, etc.
1. Prepare a hot drink and head outside as a family.
2. Go to a nearby park and observe plants or living things in sunny spots.
3. Look for plants that have sprouted in the warm sunlight and take pictures of them.
4 Take photos of moving animals too (e.g., cats, birds, dogs walking, etc.).
5. When you return home, write down the appearance, name, and characteristics of the plants and animals you photographed in your observation journal.
6. Share with the children that life is seen not only in humans but also in plants and animals, as they grow and move because they have life.
7. Listen to each other’s heartbeat and thank God for giving life.
Life is not only found in people but also in plants and animals. Spend time as a family enjoying nature, thanking God for the life He gives to all living things, and imagining how life thrives in the grand natural world.
