예수님은 마지막 때 어떤 사람이 복이 있는지 말씀해 주셨어요. 그는 주인이 집에 돌아왔을 때, 맡겨진 일을 충성되게 하고 있는 종과 같은 사람이에요. 예수님이 언제 다시 오실는지는 아무도 몰라요. 늘 깨어 있어 한결같은 신실함으로 살아가는 사람은 예수님께 칭찬과 상을 받을 거예요.
Jesus told us what kind of person is blessed in the last days. He is like a servant who is faithfully doing the work entrusted to him when the master returns home. No one knows when Jesus will come again. Those who stay watchful and live with consistent faithfulness will receive praise and reward from Him.
■ 인도자를 위한 본문 이해 (Understanding Scripture for the Leader)
예수님은 마지막 때, 곧 세상 끝에 일어날 여러 상황에 관해 말씀해 주셨습니다(24:16~19). 그런 다음 마지막 때를 준비하는 자세를 가르쳐 주십니다. 성도는 마지막 때를 두려움 없이 맞이하도록 ‘깨어 있어야’ 합니다. 깨어 있는 것은 도둑이 들이닥칠 것을 미리 알고 준비하는 모습을 가리킵니다. 예수님이 다시 오실 때, 즉 세상의 마지막 때를 도둑이 오는 것에 비유하시는 이유는 그날이 누구도 알 수 없는 때에 갑자기 임하기 때문입니다. 따라서 깨어 있는 모습은 주님이 언제 오시든 상관없이 하나님의 뜻대로 살아가는 모습을 말합니다. 어떤 주인이 종에게 집안일을 돌보는 임무를 맡겼다면, 주인이 없는 동안에도 변함없이 그 임무를 감당하는 것이 충성된 자세입니다. 그렇게 행하는 종은 불시에 주인이 돌아와도 당황하지 않을 것입니다. 그리고 종의 충성된 모습을 본 주인은 자신의 모든 재산을 종에게 맡길 것입니다. 다시 오실 예수님을 기다리는 성도의 모습도 이와 같아야 합니다. 주님이 언제 오시든 한결같은 모습으로 주님 말씀대로, 주님 뜻대로 살아가는 성도는 주님의 오심을 기뻐하며 그분이 주시는 상급을 누릴 것입니다.
“그때에 유대에 있는 자들은 산으로 도망할지어다 지붕 위에 있는 자는 집 안에 있는 물건을 가지러 내려가지 말며 밭에 있는 자는 겉옷을 가지러 뒤로 돌이키지 말지어다 그날에는 아이 밴 자들과 젖먹이는 자들에게 화가 있으리로다”(마 24:16~19).
Jesus spoke about several events that will happen in the last days, that is, at the end of the world (24:16–19). Then He teaches how we should prepare for the last days. Believers must “stay awake” so that they can face the last days without fear. Staying awake means being prepared in advance, like someone who knows a thief might come. Jesus compares His return—the end of the world—to a thief coming because that day will arrive suddenly at a time no one knows. Therefore, being watchful means living according to God’s will no matter when the Lord comes.
If a master entrusts a servant with the responsibility of taking care of the household, the faithful attitude is to continue carrying out that duty even while the master is away. A servant who does this will not be surprised when the master returns unexpectedly. When the master sees the servant’s faithfulness, he will entrust all his possessions to him. The same should be true for believers who wait for Jesus to return. Those who live consistently according to the Lord’s Word and His will, no matter when He comes, will rejoice at His coming and receive the reward He gives.
“Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers!” (Matthew 24:16–19).

The story in this passage is a parable about the last days when Jesus will return. Jesus is like a master who entrusts a servant with a task and leaves with the promise that he will return. Just as a master who leaves home for a while will surely come back someday, Jesus will certainly come again. To welcome the Lord with joy when He returns, we must faithfully carry out the mission He has given us. This is the attitude of preparing for the last days and living a watchful life.
Although the master is not with the servant for the moment, the servant remembers that the master will return soon and faithfully carries out the task entrusted to him. This is exactly the kind of servant the master expects. Our life of faith is the same. Even if we do not always feel or experience the Lord’s presence right now, living faithfully according to His will is the watchful life and the life of waiting for Him. Just as a servant who faithfully does his work even when the master is away receives praise and reward, Jesus also rewards those who faithfully carry out the mission He has given them. ✨

Discuss together what responsibilities God has entrusted to each person and how you are carrying them out. Explain to your child that when Jesus returns, He will review what we have done and give rewards or consequences. Then think together about what each of you needs in order to live honestly and faithfully in the life God has given you and to remain watchful before the Lord.
Also talk about the attitudes or habits you can practice to live a life that receives praise. Take enough time to have this conversation so that each person can make a specific commitment and put it into practice (for example: “I will live with an awareness that the Lord is the Master of my life,” “I will put away laziness and be diligent,” “I will do my work carefully instead of carelessly,” “I will pray before doing anything,” etc.).
6. 감사하기 (Gratitude)
하나님께 감사드리고 싶은 일을 세 가지 정도 기록하게 한 후에 함께 나눕니다. 일상에서 경험한 크고 작은 감사나 예배 중에 생각난 감사를 나누어도 되고, 평범한 일상을 누리게 하시는 은혜에 대한 감사를 나누어도 됩니다. 감사를 나눔으로 하나님의 은혜를 기억하고 하나님 중심의 삶을 훈련하게 됩니다.
Have each person write down about three things they would like to thank God for, and then share them together. They can share big or small things they experienced in daily life, things they thought of during worship, or gratitude for the grace that allows them to enjoy ordinary daily life. Sharing gratitude helps us remember God’s grace and trains us to live a God-centered life.
7. 기도 (Prayer)
하나님! 저희가 하루하루 충성된 삶, 깨어 있는 삶을 이어 가길 원합니다. 게으름과 안일함에 빠지지 않고, 하나님이 맡겨 주신 일을 잘 감당하게 해 주세요. 그래서 마지막 날에 주님의 인정과 칭찬을 받는 저희가 되게 해 주세요.
God, we desire to continue living each day faithfully and watchfully. Keep us from falling into laziness and complacency, and help us faithfully carry out the work You have entrusted to us. May we be people who receive Your approval and praise on the last day.

Materials: A sheet of drawing paper (8-cut size), writing tools, a ruler, and decorating materials
1. Share with one another about your daily routines.
2. Draw a daily schedule on the drawing paper. You may organize it by days of the week or by the 24 hours of a day.
3. First write down the main outline of your daily or weekly schedule.
4. To build habits of faith, make a plan for when, what, and how you will practice them each day. Then write these practices on your schedule (for example: sing one praise song, have QT/devotions, pray before going to bed, pray before meals, share about Jesus at least once, etc.).
5. Each time you carry out your plan, mark it on your schedule with a sticker or stamp.
To live by faith each day, it is important to develop habits of faith. Practice consistently for a week or a month so that these habits can take root. Encourage one another to faithfully follow your plans, and reward family members who succeed in forming these habits with a small gift or a “wish coupon.”
