4. 본문 이해 (Understanding the Scripture)
최후 심판 날에 왕(예수님)은 양과 염소를 가르듯 모든 민족을 구분하셔서 양은 그분 오른쪽에, 염소는 그분 왼쪽에 세우실 거예요. 오른쪽에 있는 의인들은 하나님 나라를 상속받을 거예요. 그들이 힘없고 보잘것없는 사람, 지극히 작은 한 사람을 돌보고 섬긴 일은 예수님을 섬긴 일과 같기 때문이에요.
On the day of final judgment, the King (Jesus) will separate all nations just as a shepherd separates sheep from goats. The sheep will be placed on His right, and the goats on His left. Those on His right—the righteous—will inherit the kingdom of God. This is because the way they cared for and served the weak, the needy, and “the least of these” was the same as serving Jesus Himself.

Jesus will return as the Judge. He will sit on His throne as King, gather all nations, and separate people to His right and left. Those on His right will be commended by the King and will inherit the kingdom prepared for them.
They gave food when Jesus was hungry, gave drink when He was thirsty, welcomed Him when He was a stranger, clothed Him when He was naked, cared for Him when He was sick, and visited Him when He was in prison.
The people on the right are surprised and ask, “When did we do these things for You?” Jesus explains that whatever they did for the weakest and most vulnerable among His brothers and sisters, they did for Him. They did not act out of a desire for recognition or reward. They simply cared for those in need with the heart of Jesus.
Because of this, Jesus promises that they will inherit the kingdom prepared for them.
This passage calls us to examine our faith. Is our faith merely outward and for show, or is it truly shaped by the heart of the Lord? On the final day, what matters is not appearance, but a life that reflects Christ’s love. We are called to live a faith that will be commended by the Lord when we stand before Him.

First, find what reward Jesus promised to those on His right (v.34).
Then look closely at the specific actions for which they were praised (vv.35–36).
Help children understand that the righteous lived lives of love and service so naturally that they did not even realize they were serving Jesus. Their acts of care had become part of their everyday lives.
Also reflect on Jesus’ heart—He identifies Himself with the smallest, weakest, and most overlooked people.

When Jesus returns, He will come as the King of kings, subdue all authority, and judge all people. He will gather all nations and separate them as a shepherd separates sheep from goats—placing the righteous on His right and the wicked on His left.
Those on the right will inherit the kingdom, and Jesus will commend them by pointing to the way they lived. Yet the righteous are surprised, because they do not remember ever directly serving Jesus. Jesus then explains, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Jesus identifies Himself with the weak and the overlooked. The righteous treated the poor and powerless as if they were serving Jesus Himself. They did not ignore those in need but cared for them, met their needs, and helped them wholeheartedly. Jesus declares that such actions are, in fact, service to Him.

Jesus teaches that whatever is done for the least is done for Him. People often prefer those who are influential, wealthy, or respected, and may overlook those who seem weak or insignificant. But Jesus identifies Himself with the lowly and the overlooked.
As a family or individually, think about who the “least” might be in your life—someone who needs care, attention, or encouragement. Consider how you can help: meeting a practical need, offering kind words, or showing genuine care.
Share specific actions you can take, either individually or as a family. Even if no one else notices, commit to serving with the heart of Jesus—looking toward the lowly and loving them faithfully.
6. 감사하기 (Gratitude)
하나님께 감사드리고 싶은 일을 세 가지 정도 기록하게 한 후에 함께 나눕니다. 일상에서 경험한 크고 작은 감사나 예배 중에 생각난 감사를 나누어도 되고, 평범한 일상을 누리게 하시는 은혜에 대한 감사를 나누어도 됩니다. 감사를 나눔으로 하나님의 은혜를 기억하고 하나님 중심의 삶을 훈련하게 됩니다.
Have each person write down three things they want to thank God for, and share them together. These can include small or big moments of gratitude from daily life, things remembered during worship, or thankfulness for the grace found in ordinary life. Sharing gratitude helps us remember God’s grace and trains us to live a God-centered life.
7. 기도 (Prayer)
하나님! 저희의 눈과 마음이 열려, 도움이 필요한 이웃을 볼 수 있길 원합니다. 저희에게 주님의 마음을 부어 주세요. 그래서 저희에게 갚을 수 없는 주린 자, 병든 자, 옥에 갇힌 자에게까지 사랑의 손길을 적극적으로 펼치게 해 주세요.
God, open our eyes and hearts so that we may see neighbors who need help.
Pour Your heart into us, so that we may actively extend love to those who cannot repay us—the hungry, the sick, and those in prison.

1. 두꺼운 도화지를 반으로 접은 후 반원을 그리고 가위로 오립니다.
2. 동그랗게 오려낸 종이 앞면에는 각자의 얼굴을, 뒷면에는 예수님 얼굴을 그립니다.
3. 얼굴을 예쁘게 색칠합니다.
4. 얼굴 아래쪽 가운데에 나무젓가락을 끼우고 셀로판테이프로 고정시켜 손잡이를 만듭니다.
5. 가족 중 한 명이 힘없고 도움이 필요한 사람 역할을 맡습니다.
6. 자기 얼굴이 앞을 향하도록 가면을 쓰고, 도움이 필요한 사람을 어떻게 대할 것인지 평소 모습대로 표현합니다.
7. 가면을 뒤집어서 예수님 얼굴이 앞을 향하게 한 후, 예수님이라면 어떻게 말하고 행동하실지 표현합니다.

“Role Play Activity”
<My Face vs. Jesus’ Face>
* Preparations: Thick paper (cardstock), wooden chopsticks, scissors, clear tape, decorating tools (colored pencils, markers, stickers, etc.)
1. Fold a piece of thick paper in half, draw a half-circle, and cut it out to make a full circle.
2. On one side of the circle, draw your own face; on the other side, draw the face of Jesus.
3. Color and decorate both faces.
4. Attach a wooden chopstick to the bottom center of the circle using clear tape to create a handle.
5. One family member plays the role of a person who is weak or in need.
6. Hold the mask with your own face showing and act how you would normally respond to someone in need.
7. Then flip the mask so that Jesus’ face is showing, and act how Jesus would speak and respond.
Activity Tip:
Act out different situations involving people in need—such as someone who is hungry, thirsty, homeless, or lacking proper clothing. Observe how your natural response differs from the heart of Jesus. Guide children to think, “What would Jesus do?” and encourage them to act with His compassion when they encounter people in need.
This activity helps make the contrast visible between a self-centered response and a Christ-centered response, forming practical habits of compassion in everyday life.
