4. 본문 이해 (Understanding the Scripture)
왕은 하나님을 대리하는 통치자이기에 하나님이 원하시는 방법대로 나라를 다스려야 해요. 시편 기자는 왕으로서 하나님이 기뻐하시는 모습으로 백성을 다스리고자 다짐했어요. 그는 하나님 뜻을 따르는 사람들을 가까이하고, 악인들을 멀리하려 했어요. 그래야 백성을 바르게 다스릴 수 있기 때문이에요.
Since a king is a ruler who represents God, he must govern the country in the way God desires. The psalmist resolved to rule the people in a way that pleases God as a king. He tried to keep close those who follow God’s will and keep away the wicked. This is because only then can he rule the people righteously.
■ 인도자를 위한 본문 이해 (Understanding Scripture for the Leader)
다윗은 하나님의 마음에 맞는 사람이라는 칭찬을 들은 왕입니다(삼상 13:14; 행 13:22). 그는 들판에서 양을 돌보는 목동이었을 때부터 하나님을 의지했습니다. 사울왕에게 쫓기며 죽음의 위기를 경험할 때도 하나님만 의지하며 위기를 극복했습니다. 왕위에 오른 후 밧세바 사건으로 잠시 중심을 잃은 적이 있지만, 나단 선지자의 지적을 받고 자신의 죄를 철저히 회개했습니다(삼하 12:13). 101편은 다윗이 지은 시로, 하나님이 기뻐하시는 왕이 되겠다고 다짐하는 내용입니다. 이 시편은 후대에 왕들이 하나님께 충성을 맹세할 때 사용한 것으로 봅니다. 시편 기자는 하나님 보시기에 옳은 것을 추구하며 살겠노라고 고백합니다. 그는 신실한 사람들을 가까이하고, 교만하고 거짓말하며 이웃을 비방하는 악한 자들은 멀리하며 공평과 공의로 나라를 다스리겠다고 말합니다. 시편 기자의 고백은 왕과 같은 통치자뿐 아니라 모든 성도에게 적용됩니다. 선과 악의 경계가 모호해진 시대를 살아가는 우리는 하나님 보시기에 악한 것과 선한 것을 구분하며 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 삶을 살아야 합니다.
“지금은 왕[사울]의 나라가 길지 못할 것이라 여호와께서 왕에게 명령하신 바를 왕이 지키지 아니하였으므로 여호와께서 그의 마음에 맞는 사람[다윗]을 구하여 여호와께서 그를 그의 백성의 지도자로 삼으셨느니라 하고”(삼상 13:14).
“폐하시고 다윗을 왕으로 세우시고 증언하여 이르시되 내가 이새의 아들 다윗을 만나니 내 마음에 맞는 사람이라 내 뜻을 다 이루리라 하시더니”(행 13:22).
“다윗이 다메섹 아람에 수비대를 두매 아람 사람이 다윗의 종이 되어 조공을 바치니라 다윗이 어디로 가든지 여호와께서 이기게 하시니라”(삼하 8:6).
“다윗이 나단에게 이르되 내가 여호와께 죄를 범하였노라 하매 나단이 다윗에게 말하되 여호와께서도 당신의 죄를 사하셨나니 당신이 죽지 아니하려니와”(삼하 12:13).
David is a king who was praised as a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22). He relied on God since he was a shepherd boy tending sheep in the fields. Even when he was chased by King Saul and faced the crisis of death, he overcame the crisis by relying only on God. Although he temporarily lost his center after taking the throne due to the incident with Bathsheba, he thoroughly repented of his sins after being pointed out by the prophet Nathan (2 Samuel 12:13). Psalm 101 is a psalm written by David, expressing his resolution to be a king who pleases God. This psalm is believed to have been used by later kings when swearing loyalty to God. The psalmist confesses that he will live pursuing what is right in God’s eyes. He says he will govern the nation with fairness and justice, keeping faithful people close while keeping away the wicked who are proud, lie, and slander their neighbors. The psalmist’s confession applies not only to rulers like kings but also to all believers. Living in an era where the boundaries between good and evil have become blurred, we must distinguish between what is evil and what is good in God’s eyes, living a life that pleases Him.
“But now your [Saul’s] kingdom will not endure; the LORD has sought out a man after his own heart [David] and appointed him ruler of his people, because you have not kept the LORD’s command.” (1 Samuel 13:14)
“After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’” (Acts 13:22)
“David put garrisons in the Aramean kingdom of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to him and brought tribute. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.” (2 Samuel 8:6)
“Then David said to Nathan, ‘I have sinned against the LORD.’ Nathan replied, ‘The LORD has taken away your sin. You are not going to die.'” (2 Samuel 12:13)

왕은 하나님은 대리해 백성을 다스리며 섬기는 사람입니다. 그러므로 왕은 하나님이 맡기신 나라와 백성을 위해 최선을 다해야 합니다. 온전한 삶을 살기 위해 완전한 마음으로 맡은 일에 힘써야 합니다. 시편 기자는 왕으로서 하나님이 주신 권력을 함부로 사용하지 않을 것이라고 다짐합니다. 통치자 주변에는 간신배가 있기 마련입니다. 이를 잘 아는 시편 기자는 하나님 뜻대로 사는 이들을 곁에 두고, 그들의 지혜를 배우며, 그들과 소통하면서 나라를 다스리고자 합니다. 그는 하나님을 잊어버리게 할 만한 환경이나 상황을 단호히 거절하겠다는 의지를 보입니다. 특히 속이며 거짓말하는 사람들을 멀리할 뿐 아니라 아침마다 악인을 멸하겠다고 합니다. ‘아침마다’라는 표현은 아침에 재판의 자리에 서는 상황을 가리키는 것으로 봅니다. 재판의 최종 결정권자로서 사사로운 일에 매이지 않고 하나님 뜻을 분명하게 드러낼 것이라 다짐합니다. 왕이 이 같은 다짐과 결심을 끝까지 지킨다면, 그의 나라는 하나님의 보호하심 아래 번영할 것입니다.
A king is someone who rules and serves the people on behalf of God. Therefore, the king must do his best for the country and the people entrusted to him by God. To live a blameless life, he must strive in his given tasks with a perfect heart. The psalmist resolves that, as a king, he will not misuse the power given by God. Rulers always have sycophants around them. Knowing this well, the psalmist intends to rule the country by keeping those who live according to God’s will close by, learning their wisdom, and communicating with them. He shows a firm resolve to reject environments or situations that might make him forget God. In particular, he states that not only will he keep away those who deceive and lie, but he will also destroy the wicked every morning. The expression “every morning” is considered to refer to the situation of standing in the seat of judgment in the morning. As the final decision-maker in trials, he resolves not to be bound by private matters but to clearly reveal God’s will. If the king keeps these resolutions and determinations to the end, his kingdom will prosper under God’s protection.

To perform his duties as king well, the psalmist distinguishes between the people to keep close and those to keep away. Think about what we should keep close to become blameless in faith. If we think of it as “people” as expressed in the text, there is a risk of falling into the rashness of judging someone. Guide them by focusing on “actions” rather than pointing to a specific “who,” distinguishing between things (actions or words) that God would be pleased with and things (actions or words) that God would dislike. You can consider honesty, diligence, humility, kindness, yielding, encouragement, and prayer as things that please God, and lying, hatred, swearing, stealing, pride, and laziness as things God dislikes.
6. 감사하기 (Gratitude)
하나님께 감사드리고 싶은 일을 세 가지 정도 기록하게 한 후에 함께 나눕니다. 일상에서 경험한 크고 작은 감사나 예배 중에 생각난 감사를 나누어도 되고, 평범한 일상을 누리게 하시는 은혜에 대한 감사를 나누어도 됩니다. 감사를 나눔으로 하나님 은혜를 기억하고 하나님 중심의 삶을 훈련하게 됩니다.
Write down about three things you want to thank God for and share them together. You can share big and small thanks experienced in daily life, thanks that came to mind during worship, or thanks for the grace of enjoying an ordinary daily life. By sharing gratitude, we remember God’s grace and practice living a God-centered life.
7. 기도 (Prayer)
하나님, 왕이 되어서도 하나님을 생각하며 살았던 시편 기자의 신앙을 본받길 원합니다. 하나님이 원하시는 것이 무엇인지 분별하고, 주어진 자리에서 하나님의 공의와 사랑을 드러내는 도구가 되도록 저희를 이끌어 주세요.
God, we want to imitate the faith of the psalmist who lived thinking of You even when he became a king. Please help us discern what You desire and guide us to be tools that reveal Your justice and love in the places we are given.

<‘좋아요! 싫어요!’ 표현하기>
* 준비물: 풍선(각각 2개씩), 인형 눈알, 양면테이프, 유성 매직(네임펜), 선물
1. 가족이 각각 풍선을 두 개씩 불어 준비합니다.
2. 인형 눈알을 양면테이프로 풍선에 붙입니다.
3. 유성 매직으로 풍선 하나에는 웃는 얼굴, 다른 하나에는 슬픈 얼굴을 그립니다.
4. 한 명씩 돌아가며 하나님이 기뻐하실 일과 기뻐하시지 않을 일 등을 자유롭게 말합니다.
5. 하나님이 기뻐하실 일을 말하면 웃는 얼굴 풍선을 들고, 기뻐하지 않으실 일을 말하면 슬픈 얼굴 풍선을 듭니다.

‘Balloon Game’
<Expressing ‘Like!’ and ‘Dislike!’>
* Materials: Balloons (2 per person), googly eyes, double-sided tape, permanent marker (Sharpie), a prize
1. Each family member blows up and prepares two balloons.
2. Attach the googly eyes to the balloons using double-sided tape.
3. Draw a smiling face on one balloon and a sad face on the other using a permanent marker.
4. Take turns freely saying things that God would be pleased with and things He would not be pleased with.
5. If someone says something that pleases God, raise the smiling balloon. If they say something that displeases God, raise the sad balloon.
(e.g., Telling a lie -> ‘Dislike’ / Getting angry when things don’t go my way -> ‘Dislike’ / Preparing for Sunday worship on Saturday -> ‘Like’ / Greeting a neighbor first -> ‘Like’, etc.)
6. Give a penalty to the family member who raises the wrong balloon, and give a prize to the one who makes no mistakes.
Googly eyes can be easily found at stationery stores. If you cannot find them, you can draw eyes with a permanent marker. Through this activity, we hope you can reflect on each person’s actions, mindset, and lifestyle habits from God’s perspective.
