6. Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the Most Holy Place, underneath the wings of the cherubim.
7. For the cherubim spread out their wings over the place of the ark, so that the cherubim overshadowed the ark and its poles.
8. And the poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the Holy Place before the inner sanctuary; but they could not be seen from outside. And they are there to this day.
9. There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone that Moses put there at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the people of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
10. And when the priests came out of the Holy Place, a cloud filled the house of the LORD,
11. so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD.

4. 본문 이해 (Understanding the Scripture)
성전 건축을 마친 후 솔로몬은 언약궤를 옮겨 왔어요. 언약궤는 하나님 임재를 상징하는 중요한 물건으로, 모세 때 만든 것이에요. 언약궤를 지성소의 준비된 자리에 들여놓자, 구름이 성전에 가득했어요. 구름의 모습으로 성전 안에 가득한 하나님 영광은 하나님이 우리와 함께하시는 분임을 의미해요.
After Solomon finished building the temple, he brought in the ark of the covenant. The ark of the covenant is an important symbol of God’s presence and was made by Moses. When the ark of the covenant was placed in its prepared place in the Holy of Holies, a cloud filled the temple. The glory of God filling the temple in the form of a cloud means that God is with us.
■ 인도자를 위한 본문 이해 (Understanding Scripture for the Leader)
솔로몬은 아버지 다윗이 짓고 싶어 하던 성전을 건축했어요. 이스라엘에게 성전은 하나님이 함께하신다는 약속의 보증으로 여기던 장소예요. 하나님이 언제나 함께 계시고 만나 주시겠다고 약속하신 곳이 바로 성전이에요. 성전은 성소와 지성소로 나뉘는데, 지성소는 매년 대속죄일에 대제사장만 들어갈 수 있는 거룩한 장소예요. 그곳에는 하나님 임재의 상징인 언약궤가 놓여 있어요. 본래 언약궤에는 하나님이 함께하셨던 중요한 사건들을 떠올리게 하는 물건들이 들어 있었어요. 십계명 두 돌판, 아론의 싹 난 지팡이, 그리고 만나를 담은 항아리였어요. 본문은 언약궤 안에 십계명 두 돌판만 들어 있었다고 기록해요. 하나님은 이스라엘 백성을 선택하시고 그들과 함께하겠다고 약속하셨어요. 광야에서 성막을 통해 늘 함께하겠다는 약속을 지키신 하나님이, 이제는 가나안 땅을 차지한 그곳에서도 성전을 통해 백성과 함께하겠다고 약속해 주세요. 하나님이 이스라엘 백성과 함께하시겠다는 약속은 단순히 그냥 계신다는 의미를 넘어 그들을 구원하겠다는 약속과 연결되어요. 광야에서 보호자가 되어 주신 것처럼 가나안 땅에서도 백성과 함께하시며 그들을 구원해 주겠다고 약속하시는 거예요. 그래서 언약궤가 성전 안 지성소에 놓이자 그곳이 구름으로 가득하게 되었어요. 하나님은 구름을 통해 그들 가운데 충만한 임재를 보여 주셨어요.
Solomon built the temple that his father David had wanted to build. For Israel, the temple was a guarantee of God’s presence. It was the place where God promised to be with them and to meet them at all times. The temple was divided into the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies. The Holy of Holies was a holy place that only the high priest could enter on the annual Day of Atonement. It contained the Ark of the Covenant, a symbol of God’s presence. The original Ark of the Covenant contained objects that reminded the Israelites of important events in God’s life: the two stone tablets of the Ten Commandments, Aaron’s budding rod, and a jar of manna. The text says that the Ark of the Covenant contained only the two stone tablets of the Ten Commandments. God chose the Israelites and promised to be with them. God kept his promise to be with them in the wilderness through the tabernacle, and now, in the land of Canaan, God promises to be with them through the temple. God’s promise to be with the Israelites goes beyond just being present and is linked to his promise to save them. Just as he had been their protector in the wilderness, he promises to be with them in the land of Canaan and to save them. So when the Ark of the Covenant was placed in the Holy of Holies in the temple, it was filled with clouds. God showed his full presence in their midst through the clouds.

The Ark of the Covenant was an important object that showed the Israelites that God was with them during the Exodus. God had Moses build the Ark of the Covenant and put symbolic objects in it (the two stone tablets of the Ten Commandments, Aaron’s budding rod, and a jar of manna) to remind them of God. It’s important to note that the Ark of the Covenant, a symbol of God’s presence, was placed in the temple. God promised to be with the Israelites in the land of Canaan and to meet them at the temple. As a sign of God’s presence, God filled the temple with a cloud to show his full presence.

God made his presence in the temple a clear demonstration of Jesus, Immanuel. The God who was with the Israelites long ago is with us today. When we are conscious of God in our daily lives, we feel closer to God and live in the fullness of His presence. If I am sure that God is with me right now, how should I live at home, at school, at work, and at church? It is a great blessing and grace to have God with me. Remember, enjoying God as Creator and Almighty in our daily lives is the ultimate goal of the Christian.

*준비물: 500ml 우유 상자 2개, 색종이, 흰 종이, 색연필이나 사인펜, 풀, 셀로판테이프, 가위, 스티커 등
Preparation: two 500 ml milk cartons, colored paper, white paper, colored pencils or sign pens, glue, tape, scissors, stickers, etc.
1. 우유 상자 2개를 셀로판테이프로 연결합니다.
Connect the 2 milk cartons with tape.
2. 원하는 색상의 색종이로 상자를 감싸서 풀로 붙입니다. (꼼꼼히 붙일 수 있도록 부모님이 도와주세요.)
Wrap the boxes in colored paper of your choice and glue them together. (Have a parent help you glue them carefully.)
3. 흰 종이에 하나님이 기뻐하실 우리 가족의 모습을 각각 그립니다. (각자 자신의 모습을 그리면 좋아요.)
On a piece of white paper, draw a picture of your family that you think God would be pleased with. (You may want to draw your own picture.)
4. 완성한 그림을 가위로 오려서 상자의 각 면에 붙입니다. (가족이 함께 예배하는 모습을 그려서 붙이면 더 멋질 거예요.)
Cut out your drawings with scissors and glue them to each side of the box. (It would be great if you could draw a picture of your family worshipping together.)
5. ‘하나님과 함께하는 우리 가정’이라고 쓰고 스티커로 우리 집을 꾸밉니다.
Write “Our Family with God” and decorate our home with stickers.
