5. The staff belonging to the man I choose will sprout, and I will rid myself of this constant grumbling against you by the Israelites.”
6. So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and their leaders gave him twelve staffs, one for the leader of each of their ancestral tribes, and Aaron’s staff was among them.
7. Moses placed the staffs before the LORD in the Tent of the Testimony.
8. The next day Moses entered the Tent of the Testimony and saw that Aaron’s staff, which represented the house of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds.

5. And the staff of the man whom I choose shall sprout. Thus I will make to cease from me the grumblings of the people of Israel, which they grumble against you.”
6. Moses spoke to the people of Israel. And all their chiefs gave him staffs, one for each chief, according to their fathers’ houses, twelve staffs. And the staff of Aaron was among their staffs.
7. And Moses deposited the staffs before the Lord in the tent of the testimony.
8. On the next day Moses went into the tent of the testimony, and behold, the staff of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted and put forth buds and produced blossoms, and it bore ripe almonds.
4. 본문 이해 (Understanding the Scripture)
아론은 하나님이 세우신 제사장이에요. 하나님은 이를 백성 앞에 확증해 주셨어요. 열두 지파 지도자 이름을 쓴 열두 지팡이를 증거궤 앞에 두었는데, 레위 지파 지팡이에는 아론의 이름을 썼어요. 다음 날 아론의 지팡이만 싹이 트고 열매가 맺혔어요. 우리는 하나님이 세우신 사람을 인정하고 존중해야 해요.
Aaron was the priest chosen by God, and God confirmed this in a special way. Twelve staffs, each with the name of one of the leaders of the twelve tribes, were placed in front of the Ark of the Testimony. Aaron’s name was written on the staff of the tribe of Levi. The next day, only Aaron’s staff had sprouted, budded, and produced fruit. This teaches us that we must recognize and honor the leaders whom God has chosen.
■ 인도자를 위한 본문 이해 (Understanding Scripture for the Leader)
이스라엘 백성은 출애굽을 통해 하나님의 크신 구원을 경험했음에도 끊임없이 불평하고 불만을 터뜨렸어요. 급기야 모세와 아론의 지도력을 거부하는 일이 벌어졌어요. 레위 지파의 고라, 르우벤 지파의 다단과 아비람과 온이 합세해 하나님이 세우신 지도자들에게 반기를 들었어요. 모세와 아론이 공동체를 대표해 지도자 역할을 하는 것을 시기한 거예요. 권력에 욕심을 품었던 고라, 다단, 아비람, 온이 모세와 아론의 권위에 도전한 거예요. 하나님은 모세와 아론의 권위에 도전하는 이들을 무섭게 심판하셨어요. 땅이 갈라져 반역의 주동자와 그들에게 속한 모든 것을 삼켜 버렸지요. 하나님은 그분이 선택하시고 세우신 제사장이 누구인지 확증해 주셨어요. 지파별로 지팡이에 대표자 이름을 쓰게 하고, 레위 지파 지팡이에는 아론의 이름을 쓰게 하셨어요. 지팡이들을 하나님이 임재하시는 증거궤 앞에 두었는데, 이튿날 아론의 지팡이에서만 싹이 나고 잎과 꽃이 피어나 살구(아몬드) 열매가 열렸어요. 하나님은 아론을 선택하시고 그를 통해 일하고 계심을 분명히 확인해 주셨어요. 하나님은 공동체의 질서를 유지하기 위해 지도자를 세우시고 그를 통해 말씀하시며 일하시는 분이에요.
The people of Israel had experienced God’s great deliverance through the Exodus, yet they continued to grumble and complain. Eventually, they rejected the leadership of Moses and Aaron. Korah from the tribe of Levi, along with Dathan, Abiram, and On from the tribe of Reuben, led a rebellion against the leaders God had appointed. They were jealous of Moses and Aaron for representing the community and wanted leadership for themselves. Driven by greed for power, Korah, Dathan, Abiram, and On challenged the authority God had given to Moses and Aaron. God responded with a severe judgment: the earth split open and swallowed up the leaders of the rebellion along with everything they owned. To confirm clearly whom He had chosen as priests, God instructed each tribe to write the name of their leader on a staff. Aaron’s name was written on the staff for the tribe of Levi. The staffs were placed before the Ark of the Testimony, where God’s presence dwelled. The next day, only Aaron’s staff had sprouted, blossomed, and produced ripe almonds. Through this miraculous sign, God made it unmistakably clear that Aaron was His chosen servant and that He was working through him. God establishes leaders to maintain order in the community and works through them to accomplish His will.

이스라엘이 큰 민족을 이루고 영향력을 갖게 되자 어떤 이들은 권력에 욕심을 품었어요. 모세와 아론은 하나님이 세우신 지도자들이에요. 하나님이 세우신 지도자에게 도전해 반역을 주동한 자들은 하나님의 심판으로 죽었어요. 이에 하나님은 남은 백성이 원망을 일삼다가 죽는 일이 없도록 조치를 취하셨어요. 생명 없는 지팡이에서 생명이 움트는 초자연적인 기적으로 하나님이 세우신 지도자가 누구인지 분명하게 알리셨지요. 아론은 하나님이 세우신 이스라엘의 제사장이었어요.
As Israel grew into a large and influential nation, some people became greedy for power.
Moses and Aaron were the leaders appointed by God. Those who challenged God’s chosen leaders and led a rebellion faced God’s judgment and died. To prevent further rebellion and death among the remaining people, God took action to make His choice clear. Through a supernatural miracle—life sprouting from a dead staff—God clearly showed whom He had appointed. Aaron was the priest chosen by God to lead Israel in worship and service.

Share who the leaders (authorities) are that God has placed in your life.

공동체에서 하나님이 세우신 지도자를 인정하고 존중하며 순종하는 일은 매우 중요해요. 나의 사사로운 감정과 의견을 내려놓고 하나님 뜻을 바라보는 믿음의 표현이기도 해요. 하나님은 지도자를 세워 일하신다는 것, 공동체 질서를 유지하기 위해 지도자를 세워 주셨다는 것을 인정해야 해요. 아는 것이 많다고, 가진 것이 많다고 지도자가 되는 것이 아니에요. 지도자를 택해 세우시는 분은 하나님이에요(롬 13:1~2). 가정, 교회, 학교, 일터, 사회 등 내가 속한 곳에는 하나님이 세우신 지도자가 있어요. 그 지도자를 세우신 분이 하나님임을 인정하고, 세우신 권위에 순종하는 일은 하나님 나라의 유익과 나의 유익, 그리고 공동체의 유익을 위한 것임을 기억하길 바라요.
Recognizing, respecting, and obeying the leaders that God has established in the community is very important.
It is an act of faith, putting aside personal feelings and opinions to focus on God’s will.
We must remember that God appoints leaders to guide and maintain order in the community.
Leadership is not earned simply by having more knowledge or wealth; it is God who chooses and establishes leaders, as Romans 13:1–2 teaches us.
Wherever we are — at home, church, school, work, or in society — there are leaders set by God’s design.
Recognizing the leaders God has placed over us and obeying them brings blessing to God’s kingdom, to ourselves, and to the entire community.
“각 사람은 위에 있는 권세들에게 복종하라 권세는 하나님으로부터 나지 않음이 없나니 모든 권세는 다 하나님께서 정하신 바라 그러므로 권세를 거스르는 자는 하나님의 명을 거스름이니 거스르는 자들은 심판을 자취하리라”(롬 13:1~2).
1. Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
2. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. (Romans 13:1-2, NIV)

우리에게 지도자를 세워 주시고 공동체 질서를 유지하게 하시는 하나님께 감사드리세요.
Thank God for giving us leaders and for keeping order in our communities.

하나님, 지도자를 세워 주셔서 교회·학교·일터 등에서 공동체가 질서 있게 움직이게 하시니 감사합니다. 나 중심이 아닌 하나님 중심으로 지도자를 바라보고 존중하며 따름으로써 하나님께 순종하는 저희가 되게 해 주세요.
Thank you, God, for establishing leaders who keep our communities — in church, school, work, and beyond — in good order. Help us to view our leaders not through a self-centered perspective, but through a God-centered heart. Teach us to respect and follow them with obedience, so that in doing so, we are also obeying You.

1. A4용지를 반으로 자르고, 잘라 낸 종이를 반으로 접어 카드 모양을 만듭니다.
2. 카드 앞면 표지 부분에 하트 모양을 크게 그립니다.
3. 하트 모양을 따라 바늘로 5~7mm 간격으로 작은 구멍을 뚫습니다.
4. 바늘에 실을 꿰어, 하트 모양 구멍을 따라 바느질을 합니다(폰폰이나 단추를 사용할 경우, 하트 모양이 되도록 촘촘하게 붙입니다).

Make a Thank You Card
<Heart Card>
* Preparations: A4 paper, thick needle, heart materials (red yarn, pompoms, red buttons, etc.), and writing utensils.
1. First, cut an A4 sheet of paper in half, then fold one piece in half to form a card.
2. On the front cover, draw a large heart shape.
3. Along the outline of the heart, poke small holes about 5–7 millimeters apart using a needle.
4. Thread a needle with yarn and stitch along the heart-shaped holes. (If using pompoms or buttons instead, glue them tightly together to form the heart shape.)
5. Inside the card, write a message expressing your gratitude in a specific and heartfelt way.
6. Then, deliver the thank you card to a teacher, pastor, or any leader you would like to appreciate.
You can give this card to a Sunday school teacher, a church leader, a schoolteacher, or anyone you want to thank. It will encourage the person who receives it, and it will also help you express your respect and gratitude sincerely.
