15. On the day the tabernacle, the Tent of the Testimony, was set up, the cloud covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire.
16. That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire.
17. Whenever the cloud lifted from above the Tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped.
18. At the LORD’s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained in camp.

하나님이 머무시는 성막은 하나님을 만나는 장소였어요. 모세가 성막을 완공하자, 하나님이 함께하신다는 표시로 구름이 성막을 덮었어요. 광야에서 하나님은 그 구름으로 이스라엘을 인도해 주셨어요. 구름이 떠오르면 행진하고 구름이 머물면 진을 치면서, 백성은 오직 하나님 명령을 따라갔어요.
The tabernacle was the place where the people met with God. When Moses finished building it, a cloud covered the tabernacle as a sign that God was with them. In the wilderness, God guided the Israelites with that cloud. When the cloud lifted, they set out; when it stayed, they camped. The people followed only God’s commands.
■ 인도자를 위한 본문 이해 (Understanding Scripture for the Leader)
성막은 하나님이 이스라엘 백성을 위해 친히 모양과 크기와 재료를 알려 주셔서 만들게 하신 작은 성소예요. 성막에는 언약궤(법궤)를 보관했는데, 하나님은 그곳에 임재해 백성을 만나 주겠다고 약속하셨어요. 하나님 명령대로 성막을 다 세우자 하나님은 함께하신다는 표시로 구름으로 성막을 덮으셨어요(출 40:34~38). 하나님은 이스라엘과 늘 함께하셨어요. 그 증거로 낮에는 구름기둥이, 밤에는 불기둥이 성막에 머물러 있었어요. 하나님은 이스라엘 백성을 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 가나안 땅으로 친히 인도해 가셨어요. 백성을 인도하기 위해 사용하신 방법은 구름이에요. 이스라엘 백성은 성막 위로 구름이 떠오르면 행진하고, 멈추면 그곳에 진을 쳤어요. 행진하고 싶어도 구름이 다시 떠오를 때까지 기다렸어요. 모세를 비롯한 이스라엘 백성은 믿음과 인내를 가지고 하나님의 인도하심에 순종했어요. 이는 하나님이 이스라엘 백성에게 순종을 훈련시키신 것이기도 해요. 하나님이 함께하시는 광야 여정은 비록 험난하고 힘들지라도 가장 안전한 길이었어요.
The tabernacle was a small sanctuary that God personally gave the Israelites the shape, size, and materials to make
for themselves. The tabernacle housed the Ark of the Covenant (the Law), which God promised would be there to
meet with the people. When the tabernacle was finished as God had commanded, God covered it with a cloud as a
sign that He was with them (Exodus 40:34-38). A pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night stayed with the
tabernacle as proof that God was always with Israel. God personally led the Israelites to the land of Canaan, a land
flowing with milk and honey. The cloud was used to guide the people. The Israelites marched when the cloud rose
above the tabernacle and camped there when it stopped. If they wanted to march, they would wait for the cloud to
rise again. Moses and the Israelites had faith and patience to obey God’s guidance, which how God trained the
Israelites be obedient. The journey through the wilderness with God was the safest way to go, even though it was
rough difficult.
“구름이 회막에 덮이고 여호와의 영광이 성막에 충만하매 모세가 회막에 들어갈 수 없었으니 이는 구름이 회막 위에 덮이고 여호와의 영광이 성막에 충만함이었으며 구름이 성막 위에서 떠오를 때에는 이스라엘 자손이 그 모든 행진하는 길에 앞으로 나아갔고 구름이 떠오르지 않을 때에는 떠오르는 날까지 나아가지 아니하였으며 낮에는 여호와의 구름이 성막 위에 있고 밤에는 불이 그 구름 가운데에 있음을 이스라엘의 온 족속이 그 모든 행진하는 길에서 그들의 눈으로 보았더라”(출 40:34~38).
34. Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
35. Moses could not enter the Tent of Meeting because the cloud had settled upon it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
36. In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out;
37. but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out–until the day it lifted.
38. So the cloud of the LORD was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel during all their travels.(Exodus 40:34-38, NIV)

The wilderness is a hard place to find your way without a map or navigation(GPS) system. Remind the children that God was with the Israelites in the wilderness and personally guided them every step of the way.
Emphasize God’s loving care—how He led them with a cloud during the day to shield them from the scorching sun, and with fire at night to keep them warm. God’s guidance was not only powerful, but also full of tender love and protection.

내비게이션 없이 길 없는 광야를 통과하는 것은 매우 위험한 일이에요. 하나님은 성막에 구름으로 임재하셔서 이스라엘 백성을 친히 인도해 주셨어요. 그 구름은 모두가 볼 수 있었어요. 구름이 성막에서 떠올라 앞서 가면 백성도 행진하고, 구름이 멈추면 백성도 그 자리에 멈추어 진을 쳤어요. 하나님은 낮에는 구름으로 중동 지역의 뜨거운 태양 빛을 가려 시원하게 보호해 주셨고, 일교차가 커서 기온이 많이 낮아지는 밤에는 따뜻한 불로 백성을 지켜 주셨어요. 백성은 구름과 불을 보며 그들을 든든하게 지켜 주시는 하나님을 느낄 수 있었어요.
Traveling through the wilderness without navigation was very dangerous. But God personally guided the Israelites by dwelling in the cloud above the tabernacle. The cloud was visible to everyone.
When the cloud lifted and moved ahead, the people set out and followed. When the cloud stopped, the people also stopped and set up camp.
By day, the cloud protected them from the scorching heat of the Middle Eastern sun. By night, when the temperature dropped, God kept them warm with a pillar of fire.
Through the cloud and fire, the Israelites could see and feel God’s constant care and protection.

이스라엘을 애굽에서 구원해 내신 하나님은 이스라엘 백성에게 약속의 땅을 주시기 위해 끝까지 그들과 함께하시며 인도해 주셨어요. 하나님은 자기 백성을 고아처럼 내버려 두지 않으시고 함께하시며 도와주세요. 하나님의 다른 이름은 ‘임마누엘’이에요. 임마누엘은 ‘하나님이 우리와 함께 계신다.’라는 뜻이에요. 하나님은 독생자 예수 그리스도를 이 땅에 보내 주셨고, 임마누엘이신 하나님을 확증해 주셨어요(마 1:23). 우리의 인생길은 광야와도 같아요. 우리가 예수님 안에서 하나님의 인도하심을 받으면 가장 안전하고 복된 길로 행할 수 있어요(요 14:6). 하나님은 보혜사 성령님을 통해 우리를 깨우치시고 바른길로 인도해 주세요.
The God who rescued Israel from Egypt stayed with them and faithfully guided them to the Promised Land. God does not leave His people like orphans—He is always with us and helps us.
One of God’s names is Immanuel, which means “God is with us.” God confirmed this truth by sending His only Son, Jesus Christ, into the world (Matthew 1:23).
Our journey through life can feel like a wilderness, but when we follow God’s guidance through Jesus (John 14:6), we walk the safest and most blessed path.
God also leads us through the Holy Spirit, our Comforter, who teaches us and guides us in the right way.

23. “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”–which means, “God with us.” (Matthew 1:23, NIV)

<눈 가리고 지시 따르기>
* 준비물: 눈가리개용 스카프나 수건, 미션이 기록된 종이(예: 손 하트 만들고 사진 찍기, 시편 119편 105절 읽기, 과자 던져서 3개 받아 먹기, 엉덩이로 이름 쓰기, 풍선껌 씹고 풍선 크게 불기 등), 장애물이 될 만한 물건(쿠션, 물 2L가 든 페트병, 그림책, 모자, 튜브, 스마트폰 등)
1. 반환점이나 목표 지점을 설정해 놓고 그곳에 미션 종이를 둡니다.
2. 출발 지점과 목표 지점 사이에 중간중간 장애물이 될 만한 물건을 둡니다.
3. 부모 중 한 사람이 술래가 되어 눈을 가린 후, 자녀를 등에 업거나 말을 태웁니다.
4. 등에 업힌 자녀는 목표 지점까지 부모가 장애물을 피할 수 있도록 잘 인도해 줍니다.

<Follow Instructions While Blindfolded>
Preparations: A scarf or towel for blindfolding, Mission cards (e.g., make a heart with your hands and take a photo, read Psalm 119:105, toss and catch 3 candies in your mouth, write your name with your hips, chew bubble gum and blow a big bubble, etc.), Household items to serve as obstacles (e.g., cushions, 2L water bottles, picture books, hats, tubes, smartphones, etc.)
1. Set a clear goal or turnaround point and place a mission card there.
2. Arrange various objects between the starting point and the goal to create obstacles.
3. One parent becomes the “blindfolded player” and puts on the blindfold. A child rides piggyback or pretends to ride like on a horse.
4. The child on the parent’s back gives directions to safely guide them around the obstacles to the goal.
5. Once they reach the goal, complete the mission written on the card.
When blindfolded, you can’t see the path ahead—but if you listen carefully and follow directions, you’ll reach your destination safely. In the same way, even when we can’t see what’s ahead in life, we are safest and most blessed when we follow God’s commands and trust His guidance.
