하나님은 모세에 이어 이스라엘의 지도자가 된 여호수아에게 용기를 북돋워 주셨어요. 여호수아는 가나안 땅을 정복하고 분배하는 막중한 사명을 맡았어요. 그 사명을 완수하기 위해서는 하나님 말씀을 가까이하고 묵상하며 지켜야 해요. 그리고 어디에 있든지 하나님이 함께하심을 믿고 담대해야 해요.
After Moses’ death, God encouraged Joshua, who was chosen as the new leader of Israel. Joshua was entrusted with a great mission — to lead God’s people into the land of Canaan and to divide it among the tribes. To fulfill this mission successfully, Joshua had to stay close to God’s Word, meditate on it day and night, and carefully obey everything written in it. Wherever he went, he was to believe that God was with him and live courageously in that faith.

After the great leader Moses died (Deuteronomy 34:4–7), Joshua was appointed as his successor (Numbers 27:22–23). Joshua carried the enormous responsibility of leading Israel into the Promised Land and distributing it among the tribes. He must have felt the heavy pressure of following such a great leader as Moses. To strengthen him, God encouraged Joshua not to fear but to be strong and courageous. God promised to be with him just as He had been with Moses.
However, God reminded Joshua of one essential condition: to keep the Book of the Law always close, never turning from it to the right or to the left. Only by living according to God’s Word would Joshua find success and prosperity in his journey. God promised that if Joshua obeyed His Word, his path would be smooth, and he would prosper wherever he went.
God’s exhortation—“Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go”—was meant to root Joshua’s confidence not in his strength but in God’s presence. For Joshua, the key to victory and success in conquering Canaan lay not in military strategy but in spiritual obedience. The same principle applies to believers today: true success and blessing come from meditating on and living according to God’s Word.

God strengthened and encouraged Joshua, reminding him to stay faithful and courageous. The essential command God gave Joshua was to keep the Book of the Law always on his lips—reading it, meditating on it day and night, and living in obedience to it. God promised that if Joshua did so, He would be with him just as He had been with Moses.
With Almighty God by his side, Joshua had no reason to fear. Though many challenges awaited him in conquering Canaan, his victory would not come from military power but from trusting and obeying God’s Word. As Joshua relied on Scripture and fulfilled his mission with strength and courage, God would grant him success.
God’s desire for Joshua—and for us today—is that we remember His living presence and obey every word that comes from His mouth. People often seek a smooth, successful life, but true prosperity and peace come only to those who live in obedience to God’s Word.

The words God spoke to Joshua contain every blessing that He has prepared for us as well. What God requires is that we keep His Word close to our hearts, meditate on it continually, and live in obedience to it. No matter where we are or what we face, God calls us to trust His presence and act courageously.
This truth, which sustained Joshua, remains the key to a blessed and successful life today. God desires His people to walk in the path of blessing and prosperity that comes through obedience. When we hold firmly to this promise and strive to live by it, the living God will help us overcome every challenge and lead us into a life of true success and victory.

<Making Encouragement Tools>
Preparations: Two empty 2-liter plastic bottles per person, colored paper, scissors, clear tape, origami paper, and coloring supplies.
1. Cut colored paper to fit around the middle section of each plastic bottle.
2. On the paper, write the names of your family members (except your own) and an encouraging message for each person.
3. Decorate the paper with drawings or stickers to make it bright and cheerful.
4. Wrap the decorated paper around each bottle and secure it with tape.
5. Wrap origami paper around the bottle caps and tape it in place.
Hold your “cheering bottles” in both hands and tap them together to make sounds. Remember that God cheers for us and desires that we live a prosperous and blessed life. Take time to encourage one another, saying words like, “You can do it!” or “God is with you!”
For extra joy, play an upbeat praise song and shake or tap your bottles in rhythm like cheering sticks as you sing together. This activity reminds the family that God is always with us—encouraging, strengthening, and celebrating our journey of faith.
